The Legacy
A Town Built on Grit.A Beer Brewed for It.
Jacksonville burned to the ground in 1901 and rebuilt itself. That spirit is in the beer we make here.
Before the Name
Cowford
Long before it had a name worth remembering, this was a muddy crossing on the St. Johns River. Cattlemen drove herds through the shallows. Timucua, then Spanish, then American. Rough ground. Real people. Nobody asked permission to be here.
1822
Old Hickory
They named the town after Andrew Jackson. Not the president. The fighter. The frontiersman they called Old Hickory, because hickory was the toughest wood they knew. The name stuck because the attitude stuck. Bold. Stubborn. Self-made.
1901
The Fire
The Great Fire of Jacksonville burned the city to the ground. Largest urban fire in the Southeast. Nearly 150 blocks gone in eight hours. And they didn't leave. They rebuilt. Bigger, harder, stronger. That's who these people are.
